A search for “cat” can replace every literal occurrence. It is not a regular-expression pattern; punctuation such as “.” is treated as a normal character.
Matching rules and privacy
- The search is literal, not a regular expression. Special characters have no pattern meaning.
- Case-insensitive mode replaces matches without regard to uppercase or lowercase; sensitive mode preserves that distinction.
- All non-overlapping matches are replaced. An empty search is not allowed; replacement text may be empty.
- Processing stays in this browser. Text is not uploaded; the input is limited to one million characters.
