Freelance hourly rate calculator

Use your own assumptions to estimate monthly revenue needs and an hourly figure. The calculation does not set a market price, determine tax owed or guarantee income.

How the calculation works

Monthly hours = billable hours per week × (52 − weeks without billable work) ÷ 12. Estimated monthly revenue = (desired income + entered costs) ÷ (1 − entered percentage). Estimated hourly figure = monthly revenue ÷ monthly hours. The model assumes one rate applied to revenue and does not calculate tax rules.

Reading the example

With the initial values (BRL 5,000 desired income, BRL 800 costs, 10%, 25 hours per week and 4 weeks without billable work), the model gives about 100 monthly hours and BRL 64.44 per hour. This is arithmetic only, not a pricing recommendation.

Limits of this estimate

You enter the percentage; it may not match your actual tax and fee burden. Tax regimes, business activity, location, contracts, platform fees and rules vary and can change. Billable hours and time without revenue are assumptions too. Check obligations with official sources and a qualified professional. This tool does not determine a suitable price, profit or business viability.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the price I should charge?

No. It is an estimate based on your inputs. Consider costs, scope, competition, demand and contract terms before preparing a quote.

Does the calculator determine my taxes?

No. It applies only the percentage you enter to revenue. It does not interpret tax regimes, deductions, contributions or local obligations.

What are billable hours?

They are hours you expect to charge for. Total work time may also include administration, sales, learning and communication that are not billed directly.

Are my inputs sent anywhere?

The calculation runs in this page in your browser; the values are not submitted through a form to a server.
