Sort text lines

Put one item on each line and sort the list in ascending or descending order. Choose natural numeric sorting and whether to remove blank lines.

Enter one item per line to sort the list.

How to use

  1. Paste or type one item on each line.
  2. Choose ascending or descending order.
  3. Enable natural sorting to order embedded numbers numerically, and choose whether to omit blank lines.

Example

Natural ascending order places “Item 2” before “Item 10”. Without natural sorting, text is compared character by character.

Sorting rules and privacy

  • The order uses the browser’s Portuguese (Brazil) locale rules, matching the original tool; accents and letter case are treated as equivalent.
  • Natural sorting compares digit sequences by numeric value.
  • Blank lines are removed when “Ignore empty lines” is selected; otherwise they remain in the list.
  • The text is processed in your browser and is not sent to the server. Input is limited to one million characters.

Processing and privacy

All processing happens in this browser. The input is not sent to the server.
