How to prepare a smaller PDF for WhatsApp
A large document may take longer to download on a mobile connection. Before reducing it, decide what the recipient needs to read and keep a copy of the original. The final size depends on the images, fonts and how the PDF was created.
1. Check the original document
Open every page. Look for duplicates, oversized photos or attachments that could be sent separately. Do not remove contract or receipt pages without checking whether that changes the meaning.
2. Choose a method that fits
If you have the editable source, export another copy with smaller images and compare it with the original. If the document starts as photos, crop borders and resize them before converting them to PDF; keep numbers, signatures and stamps legible. If you need only some pages, extract those pages with a PDF tool—this does not compress the remaining page images. If you only have the complete PDF, use an editor’s export or optimization options. ConverteArq does not currently compress existing PDFs.
Example: a form with photographs
Suppose a PDF contains a two-page form and ten photos. If the recipient requested only the form, extract those two pages and label the file as a partial copy. If the photos are required, resize the source images and regenerate the complete document. Merging PDFs does not guarantee a smaller file.
3. Check before sharing
Compare the file sizes; confirm page count and order; read small text on a phone; test links, fillable fields and signatures. Changes can invalidate digital signatures. Send the file as a document and confirm the recipient can open it. Check the current limit shown by WhatsApp when attaching the file. If sending fails, check the connection and available storage too; file size may not be the cause.
Protect personal documents
Avoid sending sensitive files to services you do not know. Creating a PDF from images and merging PDFs on ConverteArq run in your browser, but the site loads external libraries and advertising. Read the privacy policy before use.
Will quality stay the same?
Not always. Resizing images can remove detail, while converting pages to images may remove selectable text. Keep the original and choose the smallest copy that still preserves the information people need. For print-ready or signed documents, check the recipient’s requirements.

Does merging PDFs make them smaller?
Not necessarily. A merge combines pages; it does not guarantee that embedded images are compressed.
Can ConverteArq compress an existing PDF?
No. The site currently offers tools to create a PDF from images and extract pages, but not to compress an existing PDF.
What file limit should I use for WhatsApp?
Check the limit displayed in the current app when attaching the file; service limits and app behavior can change.
