Tile and flooring calculator
Estimate covered area and the number of boxes from room dimensions, coverage per box and a selected cutting allowance.
Estimate flooring quantity
How the estimate is calculated
Area = length × width. The selected allowance is added, then divided by coverage per box and rounded up to a whole box. A separate reserve of about 4% of the room area is estimated, with at least one box.
Check before ordering
The 10%, 15% and 20% allowances are planning examples, not universal rules. Cuts, layout, room geometry and breakage change the amount needed. Check coverage per box and, when possible, buy boxes from the same batch and shade. Adhesive and grout amounts are rough indicators only; follow product data sheets and manufacturer instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Why add a cutting allowance?
Edge cuts, irregular corners and the installation pattern can leave unusable offcuts. The actual allowance depends on the layout and tile.
Should I buy all the boxes at once?
That can help reduce shade differences between batches. Check the batch number, caliber and shade on the packaging.
Does the calculator give exact adhesive and grout quantities?
No. Its simplified indicators vary by tile, substrate, trowel and joint width. Use the manufacturer’s guidance.
