URL inspector
Split an address into components without navigating to it or making a network request.
Enter a complete HTTP or HTTPS URL to inspect it.
How to use
- Paste a complete address beginning with http:// or https://.
- Inspect the parsed components. This tool does not open or request the URL.
- Treat the output as sensitive: usernames, query values and fragments may contain private information.
Example
For https://example.com:8443/docs?lang=en#intro, the protocol is https:, the host is example.com and the port is 8443.
URL parsing and privacy
- Only HTTP and HTTPS URLs are accepted. Relative paths and other protocols are rejected.
- The page parses the address locally; it does not visit the destination or check whether it is safe or online.
- A password is masked in the normalized URL, but a username and query parameter values may remain visible. Do not share the result if it contains secrets.
- The URL is processed in your browser and is not sent to the server.
Frequently asked questions
Does inspecting a URL open the website?
No. The tool parses the text locally and does not send a request to the destination.
Does it verify that the link is safe?
No. It only separates URL components; it does not check reputation, ownership or availability.
Are credentials and parameters hidden?
The password is replaced with a mask in the normalized URL. Usernames, query values and fragments can still appear, so treat the result as private.
