A photo can look clear on your phone and still be hard to read after it is uploaded or printed. A careful capture and a page-by-page check help you catch blur, glare and missing sides before sending a PDF.

Prepare the page and the light

Place one sheet on a flat surface with a background that makes its edges easy to see. Use even, indirect light. Move the phone or the light if your hand casts a shadow or a reflection hides text.

Photograph each page

  • Keep the phone parallel to the page to reduce perspective distortion.
  • Include all four corners and leave a small margin.
  • Tap the text to focus, take the photo and inspect it at a larger size.
  • Capture the front and back when both sides are required.

Assemble and check the PDF

Keep one page of the original per PDF page and preserve the requested order. Use the image-to-PDF tool to combine the photos, then open the downloaded file and compare it with the paper pages. A converter does not confirm whether the recipient will accept the document.

Look for cut-off corners, blur, shadows, glare and pages turned the wrong way. If the PDF is too large, reduce image dimensions or compress a copy, then check that small text remains readable. Keep the original photos until the recipient has received the file.

Protect personal information

Share only the information needed with the right recipient. Avoid unfamiliar services, and remove extra copies from shared devices when you no longer need them. Follow the recipient’s current instructions for format, size and required pages.

Frequently asked questions

Will a photo always be accepted as a scanned document?

No. Acceptance depends on the organization and the specific submission. Check its current instructions before sending.

Should I photograph the front and back?

Include both sides when the instructions request them or when the reverse contains relevant information.

Can I compress the PDF before sending it?

Yes, if the recipient’s size limit requires it. Review the compressed copy at normal and enlarged size to make sure the text is still legible.
