Barbecue calculator: estimate food and drinks
Create a planning estimate from the guest counts and duration. The quantities are configurable presets in this calculator, not universal catering standards; adjust them for the menu, weather and group preferences.
How this estimate is calculated
The preset uses 0.4 kg of meat per adult and 0.2 kg per child, multiplied by the selected duration factor (1, 1.3 or 1.6). It splits meat equally into the selected 50% beef, 25% chicken and 25% sausage/pork mix. For drinks it uses 1.2 L of beer per adult selected above, 0.6 L of non-alcoholic drinks per adult not selected, 0.3 L per selected adult, and 0.4 L per child; these amounts use the same duration factor. Water is 0.5 L per guest. Charcoal is rounded up from meat kilograms; garlic bread is 1.5 units and ice 1 kg per guest, rounded up.
These are editable planning assumptions, not nutritional, safety or professional catering advice. The beer estimate is optional; provide non-alcoholic choices and water. Consider dietary needs, allergies, the menu, cooking method and safe food handling. The calculator does not set a required amount or price.
